American Civics & Government

In this course students will learn about American government, politics, and economics.  The course encourages students to become active citizens loyal to the founding principles of this republic.  Students will demonstrate an awareness of the duties and responsibilities needed to sustain a strong and healthy democracy.  Emphasis will be given to U.S. citizenship, the United States Constitution, the U.S. Bill of Rights, the three branches of the federal government, the election process, political parties, foreign policy, current events, political issues, and basic world geography.  Students will finish the course with a rudimentary introduction to American economic principles and fiscal matters.
